Types of Trips: We have various types of fishing situations here in Central Pennsylvania. We have many wild native trout streams, we have delayed-harvest fishing, and we have technical fishing.
The native trout streams that we guide on
allow our clients an opportunity to fish attractor pattern flies over opportunistic
fish. The challenge with wild trout is getting in position to cast.
Wild trout streams usually have many over-hanging branches that make
it difficult to cast, especially without spooking the fish. On these
streams, the native brook trout range from 4-14" and the wild brown trout
range from 6-16". An experienced angler could expect to catch 50+ trout
a day during ideal conditions. We guide on three delayed-harvest sections: Kettle Creek, White Deer Creek, and Little Pine Creek. These situations offer an angler the chance to fish over stocked fish ranging from 7-20". These fish will often take attractor patterns on top, but sometimes these fish require some other techniques, such as midges or nymphs. This type of fishing usually yields good numbers and makes for an exciting day. Finally, our technical fishing is on the more popular creeks. These fish have been pressured more and can be a little finicky. Often fishing these streams and creeks requires an angler to go subsurface by fishing nymphs, emergers, or streamers. On most summer evenings, these creeks produce prolific hatches, which is a great experience to fish over. We offer combination trips that combine all three of the above scenarios, which starts the morning on delayed-harvest sections, then going to a wild trout stream, and then ending the day with the hatches of the bigger creeks.
